Online Atlas of Mountain Bike Trails in the Adirondack Park and Other Bicycling-Related Information
developed in cooperation with the Adirondack North Country Association (2005)
BikeAdirondacks.org: WEB
This is tourism development project improves the public's ability to use and enjoy one of the Adirondack Park's most under-utilized recreational opportunities: the mountain biking trails on NYS Forest Preserve lands. This project used the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the Internet to provide accurate, up-to-date trail map information to the bicycling public. ANCA conducted a mountain biking trail inventory and mapping project in 1994 that identified the most popular bicycling trails in the region. That publication is now out-of-print and since that time easement agreements with a number of large landowners have created many new mountain biking opportunities of which the public is generally unaware. This project created an online presentation of over 60 of the best mountain biking opportunities in the Adirondack Park. Included for each trail is a printable map, a description of the trail's characteristics and difficulty, and a list of local contacts where more information is available. This new initiative cost-efficiently builds on the success of the existing regional bicycling information website, Bike Adirondacks.org, by adding this new section of very specific, map-oriented trail information that the bicycling public is looking for before deciding where to take their next vacation.

Enhancing Commercial Use of the Internet for Rural Wood Products Companies
Phase 1 Small Business Innovation Research Grant, USDA (1999)
AdirondackWood.com: WEB
The purpose of this program was to research how the Internet can best be applied to enhanced marketing and sales for wood products firms based in rural areas by clarifying those Internet-related business assistance activities that proved most useful to a diverse group of wood products companies located in the Adirondack North Country region in Upstate New York. This program created a new Internet Web site: AdirondackWood.com, focusing on the wood businesses and products of the Adirondack North Country region. The Web site offered business assistance information to wood products business owners, while offering potential customers the opportunity to search for desired wood products and to link directly to wood business Web sites in the region. An experimental design guided the work, incorporating both pre-test and post-test questionnaire surveys interceded by eight Internet-related experimental stimuli.
